Riding through Namibia, South Africa, Botswana and Zambia

We are warming up to our RTW expedition starting in December. We planned this for 3 years, we saved a good part of our budget and we are ready to go.
My wife and I rode through the four countries on a 16.000 km tour on our Yamaha Super Tenere. The bike performed admirably so far. We had close calls with elephants in Botswana and Zambia (why don't they like motorbikes is beyond me!) but overall it was a hoot! Camping in the bush under the stars, visiting villages of Bushmen and many other tribes and we also tried our equipment to make sure everything works ok.

you can see a little clip of video and photos here:

December 1st, 2013, we start on our journey around the world that will take us to Cape Town, then east to Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt, the whole of Europe to Nordkapp, south to Finland, east again to St. Petersburg, all the way to Vladivostok, ferry to Japan, fly to Vancouver, down the west coast to San Diego, then Mexico, and then down to South America, fly the bilke back to Cape Town to raise funding for our orphans in Zambia.
We will keep the posts coming...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
