RTW and Norway-Singapore on 1939 Nimbus

In 2006 me and my friend rode from Norway to Singapore on two off 1939 model Nimbus motorcycles with side cars, the story can be read at KCCD - Kong Krøsus - King Croesus

This year me and another friend is planning a RTW on the same bikes, ETD is early April. The bikes is now fully rebuild and ready, the departure is just pending on the Russian visas. Read about the trip at KCCD - Kong Krøsus - King Croesus and follow our blog as we move along.

Best regards,

Hi Tormod

I saw your display at the Norwegian Motorcycle Fair last weekend. Good stuff! I even filmed it, you can see the video over at my homepage Minutes of a Motorcycle Addict - Take me home.

Have a great journey!

It will be interesting to follow your story.

Hey AliBaba, we spoke to so many people during the weekend so I can't recall you, so obviously you're questions could not be that many and silly!

Well, I’m the tall handsome dark-haired guy

We talked about a friend of mine (Norwegian Ural-dealer) who maybe can help you with the Russian visa, and we talked a lot about Africa and how far a Nimbus can go after a rebuild.
My introduction-question was something like “what’s the motivation behind using a Nimbus”.

The description with the tall dark haired handsome guy really helped, you're the guy the rode to the Cape and back on the R80 GS I believe!

If so, thanks for all the good information, and we are in touch already with your Ural friend. He has now redirected us to a Russian called Oleg, so we'll hopefully get to see the Ural factory.

For the Russian visa it seems like we are making progress through another contact now, I really hope it sorts out soon.

Retards,

Tormod

Hey Tormod,
I wish you a happy & healthy trip this summer. Theres nothing better than travelling on an old bike. In 06 I went RTW on a '48 Indian, this summer I am doing it on a '62 Harley. Maybe we will cross Russia at the same time & can meet up!
I'll be travelling east, will arrive in RU about the end of June, & (hopefully) get to Vladivostok around the end of August.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
