england to germany- new life.

so. i've saved up me some money and i'm quiting endland with my trusty motorbike.
i did a 6 month trip accross europe that ended 6 months ago, in which i decided that i would like to move to germany. i had to come home for a funeral and ran out of money.
so now, after 6 months working here. i'm heading back to hamburg.

on to the plan.
i'm setting off on my 2001 650GS, from carlisle, north-west england, to hamburg, germany, at the beginning of july 2014.
i will hit that london on my way down to dover, spend some time seeing that city.
ferry from dover to callais, head up to amsterdam, have some fun, carry on to hamburg.

thats about the extent of planning. i'm camping, couchsurfing, hostelling and 'urban camping' to keep the budget down.
can sustain myeslf for 6 months, will be looking for a job in hamburg when i get there.

of course the plan is totally changeable as and when i feel like it. the only constraint is money.
wish me luck.

Good luck.... I married a German, so as you can guess I quite like the place.

The biggest plus is they have a decent world class football team.....unlike England tonight..:(

That sounds like a great idea. Instead of riding through Poland, Albania, turkey, Arabia, Pakistan and india like everyone else, you will ride a far shorter and cheaper trip via London and Hamburg and meet the same people, get the same foods, and experience the same language and culture

You could also add France and experience north Africa and west Africa as well!

Germany is always what I wished UK would be; good wages, low corruption, not ran by a greedy and corrupt government that prostitutes itself out to any one who can pay, excellent and affordable public transport, green government, no perverts spying on you through your webcam in Cheltenham, free education including University, institutional belief in the purity of beer, etc.

yeh, germany is nice. i never expected to like it so much. when i did my europe trip i was hoping to settle down somewhere sunny like spain or south france. instead i pick the one thats like foreign england, but with cheaper beer.
to be honest i dont think i gave france a fair chance, i think all across there i stayed with more germans than french (they're bloody everywhere!)
and i think i've explained my opinion of Italy on here before (hint; they stole my boots!? and my biscuits)

Best of luck to you! I lived in Germany for 8 years, from 2001 to 2009. Loved it very much. I wasn't riding my own bike then - I was on the back of my husband's Africa Twin. Great riding in the Ahr Valley! I will visit for the first time since leaving in October this year. Would love to ride there someday myself.

ok, plan is on.
all kitted up and ready for life on the bike again
i'll be landing in That London on the 8th
couple of party nights 8th and 9th, then hang about for the weekend.
then its on to Germany to have more fun and look for employment of some sort.
woo!
party time!
excellent!

oh dang.
i'm still in That London.
every day i say i will leave the next day, and every day something happens that makes me want to stay another day.
so my motorcycle trip so far has amounted to having my bike parked up in Camden and living there.
but gosh have i seen some things here.
i've made friends with a bunch of Italian students, and a bunch of homeless guys
i've stayed at a gay nudists house and been shown around all the gay clubs,
i've stayed with a post op transgender model/lawyer who took me to church,
had lunch on some of Buddhist chicks boat
and other crazy stuff

it might not be much of a motorcycle trip, but it is certainly an adventure.

good campsite about 15km north of Hamburg on the banks of the river Ebe(?) sorry I can't give you more details but we stumbled upon it, nice cheap bar, run by cool hippy types, well worth trying to find, just don't ride bike onto the sand as they tend to fall over easily!

this trip is turning into a non starter in the best of ways, i'm still not bored of camden, so i'm still here.

clearly i'm on a tight budget. i've been in london now for 3 weeks ish, haven't resorted to paying for accommodation so far...
hence the strange people i've stayed with.

i'm sure the real adventure will start soon though.
