Cath-Arctic moment from Mo I Rana to Kebelvag (in the Lofoten Islands)

Today there's a beautiful day and the sky gives us hope for the nearly 500-km bike and we'll go from the ferry, we porter in the famous Lofoten Islands, considered a real Norways natural heritage.

The road is great, and we maintain a good average, having fun driving, obviously without risk!

The first destination of the day is to me particularly significant.

Internal program provided four objectives, to say things, personal: the first, to reach the Arctic Circle (goal achieved today ); the second (of course) get Caponord; the third visit the Baltic republics; the fourth visit Auschwitz.

I can say I have achieved the first goal!

Eighty miles from Mo I Rana, we arrive at 9:30 and we are among the first visitors? The commemorative monument is located on a plateau at some of my traveling companions reminds Campo Imperatore (I've never been, account pern to visit soon).

For the rest, there are so many? Totem?, Small and large, built with stones and? Inevitable souvenir shop (I have not taken anything, but Claudio gave me a sticker to attach to your bike? Claudio thanks!).

We leave after about a? Now to head calmly to the scheduled stop for refueling and lunch and then to the ferry, starting at 14.30, arriving at about Lofoten Islands? Hour later.

Landed at the port, we expect about another 100 km to reach our accommodation?

The road c beautiful, bridges, lakes, mountain, boats, waterfalls, ups and downs, fantastic views, in short, a truly, so much so that we stopped several times to take pictures and the group eventually split into three four sides?

we reunited a few kilometers away from the goal, the Nivagar Roburhotel (or something) that practically c consists of a main building (reception and dining room), plus a number of houses (twenty) two floors, all wood, that overlook the Sea of ?

Norway, really beautiful and features.
We arrive at about six o'clock in the afternoon and we are told that some local boys had just taken a bath in the icy waters of the sea.

The temperature (of oxygen) of 15 degrees c but c? Has a splendid sun? us? hard? mica motorcyclists will not be less than some northern boy? Pathway in the room to take the costume and then, oplr, a jump and we are also in the water!

Today Has Been a hot day, full of sunshine and certainly did not Seem to be at Certain latitudes? At one point in the afternoon I put myself in costume in the sun!

In the morning, first of all, We Could not sleep (me) up to 8.30 are Also Able to do a run of a half? Now (unfortunately the knee Continues to hurt).

At 11 we take The Boat That takes us for a ride to? Inside of a fjord, then fishing cod in the first person of the Norwegian Sea and finally the sweet Viking captain's daughter, after stiff the poor fish to the sound of bludgeoned in the head, cuts them and throws them into the sea to attract the sea gulls and a couple of pairs of sea eagles That, though, just flying in the distance.
During the boat ride, Which takes about three hours, Also we are offering a fish soup, Which We take very willingly, Because in spite of the sun,? Sea air is always cold.

In the afternoon, came back into our houses, we devote ourselves to rest Those Who wash the bike, I'm going to take a while?
of the sun and then to wash clothes for the next few days.

At half past five we improvise a barbecue with some of the fish caught in the morning and in the evening we go to dinner at the restaurant Baccalao That Already from the name suggests Which is the specialty of the house, Which actually eat with great pleasure!

Let us return then to our houses by the sea to prepare for tomorrow, at about 400 km, there still porter blackberries near Nordkapp.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
