Buying a bike in Bolivia!

Just a quick note to anyone considering buying a bike in Bolivia and hoping to take it out of Bolivia.DON'T DO IT! We met an Australian guy called Cam...Hola Cam if you read this...he and his lovely lady Christina bought new bikes in Bolivia two months ago (?)..we connected in Copacabana Bolivia yesterday to cross into Peru today...and the Bolivian Customs (Aduanas) would not let them through with the bikes..not possible...because they are not Bolivian!!

On a different note:
Bolivia is fantastic, the most amazing roads and scenery ever...we shipped our bikes over from the UK to BA, Argentina...and have had no problems crossing borders. Bought annual insurance in BA at ATM for 700 pesos..also covers us in Peru, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile
website www.atmseguros.com.ar

...Also we have had no problems finding hostels with secure courtyards or garages to lock our bikes away in Argentina, Paraguay Bolivia and today we are in Puno Peru and are bikes are locked safely away at the back of our hostel within their premises amongst mattress, etc!!

Definitely learn some Spanish before you come to SA. Tomorrow we are doing the reed islands of Uros and Friday we ride to Cuzco...speed limits are slow ..and radar guns are common!! But hey, the continent is awesome, don't rush it or as they say here 'tranquillo'!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
