Bonneville Salt Flats for Speed Week
I rode from New York to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover, Utah in 2011. If you like fast cars and fast bikes, this is one event you shouldn't miss. I blogged the trip at www.bonnevillesaltflats2011.blogspot.com

Years ago I remember riding out to the pits at 100mph across the salt flats tucked in on my old beemer while off to my right a nitro Hayabusa flew by down the long course at 200mph making me look like I was standing still. I can still hear it. Nnnnnnnnnnnyyyyoooooooooommmmm as it flew by.
And when the world's fastest Semi truck took off from the line, diesel smoke shot up 100 feet in the air from the pipes and the saltflats shook as he got that thing up to over 200mph. You have to see it to believe it. Not the most eco-friendly sport I admit. But WOW is all I can say. Cheers, John Downs
