Almaty Cheap Accomodation
 

Hello,

We are right now in Balkash, having a break for one day then we'll head south to Almaty to get the Uzbekistan Visa. We already applied through David from Stantours but we'd like to know how much does it take until the visa is actually issued. During this period, could anyone adivse us on a cheap and safe hostel. We are both on motorbikes so a yard or small garrage would be perfect. If not, any other place is welcome.

Hotel in Almaty
 

I can't help on the length of time for the visa - I already had mine before I got there.
We met a trucker before getting to Almaty who recommended, I think it's called Hotel Wagan, on the M39 into the city (Raiymbek Avenue).
From memory, it wasn't expensive although no secure parking (Just parked the bikes outside the hotel reception)
I've looked on Google earth and think it's at -
43 degs 14 mins 58.16 secs North.
76 degs 50 mins, 44.17 secs East.
Say hello to David for me - we went for a few beers with him and a super Thai meal in 2008.
