Horny in Bangkok?

I had a little 'bump' last week in Laos with someone on a moped coming round the corner on my side of the road and it seems the horn on my DR650SE has given up the ghost and now gives out either a feeble burp but mostly does nothing. It still seems to be getting power but I reckon the horn unit itself is pretty much dead after the impact.

As I'm heading to Nepal/India next, I'd be keen for a louder one anyway. Any suggestions for where to look in Bangkok?

(oh, apologies for the corny title!)

Hi Mike,

I have no idea about Bkk, but if you are still in the North there is a good shop in the centre of Chiang Mai where I bought mine. You've seen them on my bike...

Try this!

head to patpong and sit down in one of those "heloooooooa, welcooooooommmme" bars. tell the waitress you need a horn.
Please, please tell me how you get on!

On a more seriouse note, I am pretty sure with all those bikes around, and cars, that you will find something especially in probably the most opportunist city in the world. Ask at your hotel? internet cafe?

Me so horny now...

Well I went over to Dynamic Motors (Yut), told him what I was after, the son rode off somewhere and came back with 2 horns (2 tone). Then Yut knocked up a pretty solid bracket while the son put all the wiring together.

I now have a super loud horn ready for India. Total cost was 1,200Bt. He spent a bit of time getting the bracket right so it fits nicely with my IMS tank and doesn't interfere with the front mudguard. He even rust proofed and painted the bracket.

Right, now where did I put my ping pong bat...

Have fun & wait till you hear what kinda horn they have in India, a switch from A-E, for you to choose from, whether u want a norm Horn or a real horny ones.....

ps: looks like you got my pics posted on your blog (wish it was my zombie bike instead)

I suspect that you don't have a DR650SE. I do. Even fitting a couple of electric horns was a very tight squeeze. The bike is so compact, there is no room to fit anything - unless it sticks out a mile. :-)

If you are getting the horn in Bangkok be sure to check the male/female connector arrangement before wiring in as they are not always in the conventional setup

Guys! mikeS already in Nepal, what he needs now is a DR that can run using electric! Fuel is not easy&cheap there....:nono:

Is that a tone of experience I can detect in your words HenryUK? ;-)
