Granados E11-130 entre Eloy Alfaro y 6 de Diciemnbre. tel. 93 (2) 227 5713. see either Cristian (speaks english) or Mauricio who is very good with electrics.

Moto Access no longer exists

Quito brings a tear to an old mans eye who has not seen a kwaka dealer since Chile.

Just to update. MOTO ACCESS no longer exists. Christian (who speaks english and seems like a fantastic mechanic) is now based at SPEEDY MOTORS (opposite the other mentioned moto store in Quito, RACING PARTS).

Moto access has been replaced by a full blown Kawasaki dealership. The mechanic speaks english, but to be honest the guy did not inspire me with confidence and really, I would never leave my bike there despite all the glitz and shine of a new Kwaka store. They are also rumoured to be very expensive.

There is one other motor mechanic that has a good name (no first hand experience). PRO RACING. The guy in charge speaks english and was very helpful. All these stores are in the same area. Will add a post with the address for Pro Racing.

Regards

Speed and Pro Racing

There is also KTM in Quito of course.

SPEED where Chirstian from Moto Access now works;
Av. 10 de Agosto N45-109 Amaznos
(593-2) 2453 660

PRO RACING (Kawasaki mechanic)
Sebastian Miranda (speaks english) mob; 099 249 652
Las Retamas E1 - 170 y 10 e Agosto

I went to SPEED and Christian. I was extremely dissapointed given the number of very positive reports posted. Left my bike for a routine valve check and they did not bother to clean mud from around the head and frame (yep, I cleaned what I could with the fairings on before dropping the bike off). When your bike is your home and all you have, such blatent lack of care is inexcusable. God knows how much dirt and crap went into my top end. Never again!

Desert Racing or something similar next to a Honda dealer in Lima, Peru I can recommend. The guy did a great job cleaning my carby and didn´t mind me leaning over his shoulder either.

Regards

Quito, Ecuador. PRO RACING is great

Hola HU Community,

I went to PRO RACING for a doohickey change on my KLR 650 (I already had the parts). Sebastian speaks excellent English, is very knowledgable about bikes and is a very professional young man. His mechanics know their stuff aswell.

Recommend these guys. I ended up going for a rather comprehensive service, and the lads sourced all the parts and worked MUCHO to get me back on the road. Holler fellas, thanks for all your help!

Good shop: Quito Ecuador

Hola muchachos,

If you need a good place to fix or have your bike fixed in Quito, look no further; contact this guy.

Diego Salvador.

His shop is a family thing, as he works with his dad. His shop is small but very effective.

On our stop in Quito he helped us do maintenance on our bikes, find parts and tires. He was also a good source of information with reference to places to see and visit, both in Quito and the rest of Ecuador.

Tecnimoto

Let me add Carlos Hugo Arias Leon to the list of great bike shops in Quito. Carlos is the owner/mechanic of Tecnimoto. I met him on the Stahlratte crossing from Panama to Cartagena and visited him with a few sizable problems on my KLR. He's very knowledgeable with big bikes and was riding an older BMW when I met him.

You won't be disappointed and you won't be gringo'd. He spent half a day working on my bike after sourcing all the needed parts. The parts were way less than stock parts in the us and he charged me $10 for labor. If you do visit him, tell him I say hi and thanks.

Here's his info...

+1 Pro Racing

Just got back from ProRacing and can agree with everything said above.
A point that hasn't been mentioned is that they are an official Triumph and Husaberg (lots of the same parts as KTM) dealer.
Sebastian spent an hour on the phone trying to find a battery to fit a F650GS, they fitted new tyres to the bike that I suppied for $5.
The guys in the workshop are really helpful and everybody seem quite happy to have me stand around watching while they did the work.
The service manager is Hector Cordero (125 GP and AMA superbike rider from many moons ago, top fella).

Pit Stop for English and no gringo-ing!

Jonathan used to work in the UK and speaks great English...about $5 an hour and did wonders for both my friend and my tricky electrical short. ALSO HAS DIAGNOSTICS! For many bikes he can plug in and work out faults for bmw, Harley, Kawasaki, triumph, and others. Don't be put off by size or disarray of shop...he's on to it!

Located on right side of Avenida Rio Amazonas just off 10 de Augusto.

I think he is the only Race Tech authorized guy in Ecuador, so he should be good on suspensions.
