Chili, Santiago, Johny Motos

Johny (real name is Ruben) runs a well equiped repairshop, and he knows his bussiness. If you want you can do the work on your bike yourself and he only gives a hand when you need or he does the job for you. He even has a bed in case of emergency (all very basic).

Coordinates:
S 33.32.096
W 070.36.326
and than a little bit further on the corner, just give a bang on the metal slidedoor.

If you travel on a bike this is your guy!,

I can confirm that Johnny Moto is excellent. He totally rebuilt my Honda Falcon NX4/400cc. He did good work and has been friendly enough to give me some advice along the way months later when I was on the road. His workshop is well organized and his work style is tidy and systematic. He evidently has wide experience with various makes and models and has a large regular client base which includes even folks from the local police. I definitely recommend Johnny Moto.

(Plenty more detailed information on my Johnny Moto / repairs experiences on my blog - 2ForTheRoad | KEN & EBRU TRAVEL THE WORLD)

Hi! Sounds good, do you have the streetname and number maybe? (in lack of a Garmin) :thumbup1:

TdG: wayyy too late to reply on this, very sorry I though I'd be getting email notifications for new posts but I haven't so didn't look here..

Anyway for others: this is the correct address as of the time I visited - June 2012

Ruben Contreras / Johnny Moto
Americo Vespucio #8975
La Florida - Santiago - Chile

Big metal gate on the marginal road of the main A.Vespucio highway. Number is painted on the wall roughly so don't look for a neat sign like I did :)

Johhny Motos

We used Johnny Motos on recommendation by a local Tour guide for a basic bike service and check. His shop is very small and not obvious to find but his service was great and we highly recommend him. He also charged reasonable prices.
He does not speak English but he has Google translate on hand! and is a great guy.
You can also e-mail him for advice or recommendations.

As at Apr 2015, Johnny or Ruben moved recently to:
Obispo Arturo Espinoza Campos #3296
On the corner with Quilin.
Comuna de Macul, Santiago de Chile.
It's just a small shop and there isn't a sign out the front but just stick your head inside and you'll find him.
You can find him on Facebook under Johnny Motos (Ruben Contreras) too.

He just did some work on my KLR and I can't recommend him enough. Very knowledgeable, quick and muy buena onda!

Agreed! Johnny helped me out a few years ago and is a super nice guy - and a good mechanic!

This is good news - I need a Mechanic to do some work on a Tornado XR250.

Any recent experiences?

Some GPS coordinates for his new workshop - or even a phone number - would be fantastic.

Thanks!
Ross

Johnny Motors

Johnny Motors.
Obispo Arturo Espinoza 3296,
Macul, Santiago de Chile.

Pretty much the nicest guy I've met moto or otherwise on my whole trip.
Sorted out my bike, gave me some tips for my motor & shot the breeze a little.
All round great guy, was working on some large touring bikes while I was there. Even gave me his details & said to call him for advice if I had any questions or got into trouble.
Highly Recommended.

Out of the many shops I have visited in my travels through all of Latin America and other countries (100+) Johnny is numero uno. I would add Willy at City Motosport in Quito, Ecuador to this very short list.

Just to echo what others said; Rubin is great. I took my XR250 there for variety of general maintenance. He's honest, reliable and a good mechanic. It's best to contact him in Spanish using whatsapp - or just turn up to his shop.
