Best In North America

BEST RECOMMANDATION: HOUSTON MOTORCYCLE EXCHANGE. PM ME FOR THE LOCATION

is there a proper workshop in north america?

bike here is so cheap. once broken, there isn't a need to fix it. either DIY or put it in the garden and lay it there as a decoration piece and buy a new one. buying a new bike would cost much lesser than repairing. small issue where everyone can do in their own garage, i can do it too. riders would usually sent the bike to the workshop when they have no time for DIY even they know how to do it.

a friend bought a very new and low milage ktm990 just for 1.5 times more than my 10years old africa twin (bought in singapore).

a brand new KLR 650 cost the same as my 10yrs old africa twin.

whats the point of looking for workshop?

changing engine oil? change spark plug, bike washing, change tires/chain and sprockets? PM me, i can go to your house to do it for u.

going to a workshop means that i have to sign some agreement before they start the job. agreeing something like they will not bear the responsiblity of anything that is going to happen next. by signing that paper, they are covered!

when the bike is done, the mechnic rode the bike out of the workshop and hand the key to the boss. the boss will hold on to the key until i make payment. WTF?!

FORGET ABT viewing your bike when the mechnic is doing the job. they claimed that the workshop only buy insurance for the mechnic and not the customers. which is true ; for me, if i had not hide in the workshop observing what the mechnic was doing, i would not have to ask the boss to adment his bill for something that the mechnic had not done for me.

i would really want to find some good workshop/mechnic in north america.

charge by hour? $60/hr, that include the chatting time on the mobile phone?

$95/hr? same shit for up-priced valve work ended up for me ordering another engine from germany to continue the trip.

you must visit Houston Motorcycle Exchange in order to understand only one of the above message.

any recommandation?

singaporedream

by the way, a friendly mechnic doesn't mean that he is a useful mechnic.

a free service doesnt mean it is a good service.

a $100000/hr job doesnt mean it is a very professional job.

is there a certified motorcycle autorised workshop/mechnic here?

or is this due to the economy downturn where some desprate businessman is in debt?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
