Official services or repair shops.Let's update with experiences..

As far as I see, HUB is the best place for cooperation between travellers..
Also fast and most friendly with sincere and honest members....these are positive points.

-We had a support by UK.biker friend in SE.Asia for a rear shock absorber just within a day and 4 days later it was in katmandu carried by a hiker friend..All met eachother here.

And the only negative point is just a few of us write down experiences in the forums after the trip is completed or the problem is over even all is written in personal blogs.

This site is for all of us not only while we are in need of support and advices, but also real experiences must be available which will enlighten the roads
for the following travellers, aspecially about repairshops and services.
Threads with same subjects and same replies are getting more crowded...

Personal idea as an entrance to the main subject:

(experiences in asian and around black sea countries.)

1-Official services are ok. if your bike is under warranty process and you have sponsors/much money and time....

2-If not, always better to meet a local workshop run by a good mechanic for more friendly, cheaper, faster but good solutions...You can learn where they are when you ask local bikers on big bikes.

3-Even most engine parts are not available in official services..Workshops can find alternative parts and solutions that are approved...

For eg.
Gas pumps are not available in stocks outside (D)and always mınımum 10 days waiting time for the new one..316 car pump is ok. for bikes too with same 3 bars pressure..cheaper and longer user life and stronger than bike pumps..(service or factory will never tell u this..About 500 USD. for bikes and 175 USD. for cars..)

(I remember a UK.biker who has waited for this in India for 1,5 months and then flied to dubai to buy it..have read his letters written to the headquarters while he was in İstanbul last year.Still no reply..They never reply.)

Same for legendary Africa Twin.you must never leave the gas pump empty and dry so as not to meet problems..But if you replace it with mitsubishi panel van gas pump while you are going to change, you never meet such problems..

I am sure there are many friends full of interesting, exciting experiences with nice solutions after been stuck somewhere around the world and will be great to read their advices here..

Cost of learning is very expensive so experiences always good and useful...
A nice saying of a European Queen to a Fleet Captain.(must be 15.th.century)
If America is discovered, no need to invest to discover it again in a different way.

Wish all happy, safe, lucky, healthy trips and sponsors..

Anyone visiting the Istanbul area should contact Mehmet before doing so if you have any questions. He is very knowledgeable, friendly, and experienced. He has a passion for helping travelers and will be your biggest asset in Turkey. Highly recommended.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
