west africa / digital photography

Hello!

I'm planning to drive from Togo/Ghana up to France, and actually looking for a digital cam... but I realise Africa might be very different from asia, and if it's easy to unload memory cards in asia, it looks very tricky in africa...
I'm looking for every informations about that. Is it possible to unload cards in capitals only or also in smaller towns as well, does it works with a kind of photo lab, or is it done from cybercafe, is usb possible, do you need your own CDs,... ??? Lots of questions, but first time overthere!

Thanks for your replies!

I would recommend getting one of the new storage devices comming to market that lets you dump memory card content to s small HD. Some of them can burn your pictures to CD which you can mail home.

Dpends on what you mean by downloading your pictures.
You can download pics at a cyberace and send to a web storage for files or pictures (eg smugmug.com).
better if you use a USB memory card ready.
Also check the cafe bandwith (you can ask the cafe tech) or just check by visiting a high bandwith site.
Some labs can take memory cards and process but they are few and you may not get one.
