Timecode striping on digital tapes

Is it important to timecode digital camcorder tapes before use? Ie record blank video onto a tape so that the timecode is striped

The type of video I will be taking involves many 5min sequents and I don't want to end up with timecode errors.
Thanks

Most editing software can handle this during editing so don't worry about it.

it wouldnt be a waste of time stripping your tapes, i certainly do it, but it all depends on how your camera lays your timecode down.
if you cant assemble your time code(have it run in a continuios strip) you will still get time code breaks with a stripped tape... hope this makes sense. phil.
