Next Generation of Nikon Digital SLR's

Does anyone have any information about the models that will succeed the D1X?

I was told it/they won't have the 1.4 x factor on the lenses but cannot find any info on when.

Having had film developed in Cape Town, Harare, Dar and Nairobi was a real pain and the quality some what variable (one roll was completely black apart from the shots 35 and 36 taken with an F5) so I'm very keen to find out when/what's coming.

It's not known yet, and I think it won't happen for a while - Otherwise Nikon would not have missed the opportunity to unveil it at Photokina as the Canon 1Ds was introduced. I certainly expect them to come up with a full-frame sensor.

Weird.. but apparently Nikon seems to be standardizing on the 1.4x sensors (16mm x 25mm) and will release a new range of "DX Nikkor" lenses.

---
The original Nikon F camera system was pivotal in establishing the 135 film format as a serious format for professionals and amateur photographers alike. This was achieved through a coordinated body and lens system design policy.
The immense popularity of the Nikon D series camera's 25x16 format again demands a similar system approach. By standardizing basic factors such as lens mount and sensor format photographers can build a flexible and high quality digital lens system with confidence.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
