Keep Camera safe
Where is the safest place on a motorcycle for my digital camera while riding?

Kept my camera in my tankbag, padded all around with clothes while travelling in Marocco..
Been on pistes, taken about 10 minor falls,... camera survived all of this. Think another safe place against the bumping and shaking is your back (little backpack). In belgium while not travelling I carry my labtop on my back. But if you then take a fall your camera will by between your back and the ground... Definately in a padded tank bag, although it means taking it off and with you whenever you leave the bike. The top box is a shaky place, and when in the tank bag it is easy to access when stopping for a snapshot.
Touratech has a nice small camera tank bag which I bought last summer. It has room for a SLR pluss a few lenses and flash and is well padded with dividers. It isn't the biggest bag in the world but I like that, because it doesn't constrict movement on the bike. Highly recommended. ------------------ Dag http://RocinantesTravels.com |
DON'T carry your camera in a backpack while riding! should you take a fall, odds are you'll smash it, and you could seriously injure your spine in the process. Of all places, I recommend NOT carrying anything bulky, hard or sharp on yourself, and specially NOT in a backpack where a blow could be dead serious.
On a different note: cameras, digital or not, don't make good friends with magnetic tankbags. If you're buying one for this, get one that attaches via straps (don't ask how I know...) http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/frown.gif |
Thank you all for the good tips, see you on the road http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif
