Camera tank/shoulder/backback -bag
 

Going back to SLR camera with all the accessories involved, I'm trying to find a good camera bag that:
- Works as a tank bag
- and as a shoulder bag
- and preferably as a back pack or fanny pack

It should contain a camera plus flash, three lenses, chargers (it's digital), cables, extra batteries etc. It should also be comfortable to use as a shoulder bag, and still provide easy access to the gear. Obviously it should be padded like any decent camera bag.

Touratech has one they claim does all that(http://www.touratech-usa.com/shop/in...ther_bags.html),
but has anyone had experience with it or any other camera tank bag that converts to a shoulder bag/bag pack?

Can't help you on this one, as my gear long ago became too bulky (and expensive, http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/frown.gif ) to risk carrying in a tank bag, but whatever you buy, make sure it has no magnets in it. Just don't ask how I know... http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/redface.gif

Why wouldn't you risk it in a tank bag? A good camera tank bag which is securely fastened is very well protected isn't it. If you have a slide, nothing much should happen to it, and there's less shaking than in the top box. Besides it's quick to access for snapshots.

But of course, your mileage may vary. I just don't trust tank bags to survive a crash well.

I'm not sure which bag fits the tiger, but the touratech bag I've got for my F650 has been just great. I've a got a large Mavica, FM2, 50mm, 24 mm, and 300 mm, plus my Psion and some other bits in there, and it's just perfect. I've crashed once with it, and I believe a tank mounted bag is the least vulnerable location on the bike.

As a back pack on it's own merits it's not that great though, and I actually use a seperate backpack for longer walks anyhow.

The map holder on the top of the touratech bag is also extremely useful....

You do have to use the rainguard for dusty conditions though....

Actually, as a Shoulder bag on it's own it is what I would describe as functional. It isn't a perfect shoulder bag thanks to it's other merits such as fitting on your tank etc.

Still, it works, but you have to remember to have the bag the right way up if your don't want to lose your stuff out the main flap...

Depends hpw much stuff you want to take I guess...
