He seemed to say that you arrived in Leh coming from E

Can he mean the track that goes east after More Plains, past the lake and over a pass to Mahe Bridge on the Indus? That adds about 120kms missing out Tanglang La - high, but not usually snowed up before the passes further south.

It comes in from the SE but meets the normal route at Upshi going up to Leh.

Great area for biking and sad to heart about Leh - we had a great time there.

The road that goes right from more plains is the one you must be talking about. But you need a permit from Leh to travel on that road, so you can't go to Leh from that road but can come back from it if you have the permit

Nice map Ab'eer full of ideas.
Have you ridden most of the routes to the east and north?

(cant type your name without geting one of those annoying icons)

I am a motorcyclist, thought this map would be really helpful for all travelers. I have done a round trip from Leh-Nubra Valley-Pangong Tso-Hanle-Tso Moriri-Leh a grand total for 800+kms.

Like the dvd guy? Sounds a great route. Point us to some photos if you have them.

DVD guy? :confused1: I have more than 15gb photos but I haven't uploaded them anywhere yet.

Chris, are you referring to Gaurav Jani?

abeer.aulakh 21 Nov 2010 08:29

Gaurav Jani is in Leh for the winters. Making another DVD called Motorcycle Changpa

That map intrigued me. I found the web site and spent a few hours reading:

Fascinating trips, even if they are in a tin-top...

^ You got the link wrong man!

Here is the right link: 4500 km, Two Idiots & a Wild Safari in Ladakh - Team-BHP

Yea, I know these people. They undertook the whole circuit this June. They are the ones who made this map, so thanks to them.

Bloody hell Chris, to employ a rather over used expression, totally awsome.
How long did you acclimatise for that and where? Was that a Roberts Rough Stuff I saw in there? I have so many questions about this, I am sure you are going to say buy the book, I might although the money would be better spent towards a ticket for me and the bike to Delhi.
Thanks for the posting.

Hi Mark, glad you liked it even with annoying sync issues.

We acc'd for about a week in Leh - lovely spot as the tour season was over. Second day I felt rough (as is common) - after that felt OK but TBH I never expected to be able to cycle up to 5300m at my age, and we were never committed to doing that either, which made the trip a lot more fun. Listen to your heart - especially when it's hammering away at 120 bpm at just 2mph!
Steve is a pro, a lot fitter; I was catching up by the time we left Spiti region.
Also north to south is tougher - the highest pass first.
Yes that's Steve's Rough Stuff - a solid ride.
Any other questions, ask away - it helps everyone who's interested.
Riding pushbike or moto in Ladakh & Spiti - you cannot fail to have a brilliant adventure!

August 11: Just finished another mini film on the Kibber Span from the same trip - got round the sync aggro
