I hope this is the right place to mention it but I recently attend a lecture given by Clive Parker abd subsequently brought his book called Pedalling to Panama.
He describes his travels by bike through Mexico and Central America to the Panama Canal. It is a great book because whilst it gives details of the places he stayed in etc he makes it entertaining and you do not get bogged down in being given an history lesson.
As they say it is a page turner and very inspirational for thosde wanting to set off on their own adventure.
I have travelled over several years in Europe on my motorbike but I still have not set off on my first long cycle ride and having read this I really need to do it soon. Time is moving on and I need to do it before I get too much older (58). Although having said that when I went to Clives lecture in Croydon Anne Mustoe was in the audience and even though she is older than I am she is currently travelling across America.Shes cycled around the world twicw already.
Has Clive and Ann told me when we met when I told them I wanted to cycle down to the Med the hardest p[art of all of it is making the decision to set off.Enjoy your travels wherever you go.
