Cycling south from Deadhorse - supplies!

Hey all,

I've got a (very distant) plan to cycle south from Deadhorse, Alaska.

I've just completed the 1000 mile Lands End to John o' Groats in the UK and found I was eating loads and loads of food.

So the question is this - the Deadhorse to Fairbanks route is pretty sparsely populated so pretty all food would have to be carried on the bike. Can anyone suggest what sort of food is good to carry?
Surely a week of five meals a day would weigh an absolute ton?

It's been a long time since I was up there, but it's not quite as desolate as that. You will be able to resupply at Coldfoot, and where the highway crosses the Yukon river. Really, the stretch from Deadhorse to Coldfoot is what you have to plan for. I'm sure others will chime in with more recent info.

Five meals a day ? Are you a Hobit? :D

Three meals a day, plus snacks should see you ok, about 1 kilogram per day if you use dehydrated food! I'm presently dehydrating stuff ...
most fruit/veg goes to 20% of its weight
mince meat goes to 50% of its weight
Of course this relies on picking up good water along the way. And a heat source. For 10 days that is 10 kilograms... about a pannier full.
