Burma on a bicycle

I am off to SE Asia with my bicycle in November and was wondering if anybody has information about getting into Burma with a bike. I know that usually you have to enter by air into Rangoon but is it possible to leave by road to Thailand or Lao, is there any way in by road?
Any information or links to good websites would be appreciated.

Hi Mark,

How did your trip go, are you back yet? Did you manage to go through Burma?

Regards,

Ian

Burma

Hi Ian,
yes I did get to Burma but on a plane, after speaking to somebody who had flown his bicycle in, there is no land entry, I decided to backpack which I normally do not like to do but this is a fantastic country to visit and despite hating the bus journeys it was well worth it. I did meet an Ozzie there who had cycled and he confirmed that there are up to 160 km between licensed guesthouse, foreigners must use these, officially there is no camping allowed, and said it had been hard work, the roads are awfull, the people lovely. If you are thinking about going do so.
Try the motherland 2 guesthouse in Rangoon.
