oring chain lube
 

Hi guys,
I just want to know which is the best lube for an Oring chain, Oil or the regular chain lube from vairous companies?

It depends on how much you believe the advertising.

The O ring is to seal the lubricant inside the rollers that is put there in the manufacturing process.

The oil that you apply is to lubricate the chain rollers over the sprocket and the link plates as they move.

The stuff you buy in a spray can has an adhesive agent that helps it stay on.
It also attracts grit:thumbdown:

You could use gear oil (EP 90/140) applied with a rag.
You could use chainsaw blade oil that has high adhesion and anti-fling properties, but its not as thick, which is just what your chain needs.
Its cheap. You can get a 5ltr can for €10 or less.:clap:

fit a scottoiler.
adjust it right so theres no mess all over your bike, like you always hear from the "experts", and it keeps the chain lubed, rust free and smeg flings off. scottoil is expensive but it runs fine on gear oil or even engine oil but thats a bit thin.
even if you have an o-ring chain your sprockets still need some love, i dont know if the scottoiler propaganda about chain/sprockets lasting up to seven times longer is true, but it certainly is at least a few times longer.
