carburator on altitude

hello,
i found out that climbing from sealevel to an altitude up to 2500 meters higher has a big influence on my bike. has something to do with my yamaha's ttr 250 carburator i suppose.(airpressure, no?) im not a very big mechanic myself, so has somebody some tips on that or should i adjust it all the time?

Do a search in the Search box above, HUBB & Website for:

carb altitude rich jetting

and you'll find 9 very relevant documents to help you along!

You DO want to make some changes, just don't want to go crazy all the time changing it!

MOST important, don't lean it out for altitude and then not bother to richen it up as you go down. Some have found out the hard (expensive) way that's not a good thing.

Too rich is ok, too lean is NOT!

hi grant,
thanks for the tip but when i open the results in the search box they are massive reading, full on reports that i can not read because off superslow internet connections and lack of time.
is there any other info available?

1. Check air filter is clean.
2. Remove air filter while at altitude.
3. Lower needle in carb.
4. Install new main jet one size smaller.

and south france is the bikersparadise.maybe i see you around somewhere in may as i probably visit nice and my uncle appartment in marina baye des anges.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
