Kawasaki 2005 Vulcan Mean Streak

Hi,
A friend at work refered me to look for a technical bike forum and this was the first on the list. I don't have a KLM, so I'm assuming I can ask questions here.:helpsmilie:

I resently did my 7000 mile oil change w/ filter. The bike has been running great. I filled it, ran it at idle for a while, rechecked and filled later to just under the high mark. Now when I first start up, I hear a faint clicking similar to a hydraulic lifter coming from the forward piston area. I also cleaned plugs at that time as well, but checked all the wiring for being tight and in place. After a bit, the clicking sort of goes away. I have no accessories that are lose that I can find. I don't see any exhaust leaks. I'm sort of looking for ideas as to what to look at next. The local mechanic said he's have to tear it down to see. One thing that was told to me that it didn't seem to be a lifter problem as the engine idles fine and the bike doesn't vibrate abnormally. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Kaw noise

Hi there I used to work at Poulins and Owens and at a kawasaki shop there in Yakima back when kawasaki sold two strokes. Did the bike make the noise before you changed oil? If it didn't then try a diferent oil more like the oil you drained out except new. Did you use a kawasaki original equipment oil filter? filters do vary and we have cut various off brand filters apart and compared them to original equipment and seen drastic differences. If you had the noise before the oil change......whole nuther story.

The noise you are hearing sounds to me like it could be the fuel injection.
