My name is João im from Portugal - Sintra.
Once I came here to try to discover more about the Iveco 40.10 4x4's reliability and common problems.
Now I've already bought the truck to come, and the project almost done!
It all started back when I got my first car. It was a 1994 Renault Express 1600 diesel, Witch i have quickly transformed into a mobile van surfing. Then bought a 1999 Peugeot Expert 1900 Turbo Diesel, on account of the additional space, and the three places. In witch I also have a transformation, only one elevated bed and table seating.
After, and thinking about a comfortable way to go on vacation because I have never spent a holiday in some other way, I thought about buying something that was already built a web expedition camper. The answer? A 1981 2.0 Aircooled Westfalia!
After wonderful holiday and spent time with the Vanagon, I saw myself and my family would need something bigger and stronger for the future. As always, I sold the VW Vanagon and began the search for an Iveco 4x4, walking my "pocket". And the only way that's a tough job to manage in Portugal.
After a while I could with some luck you can find one in 1997, Iveco 40.10 4x4 2800TD, 80.000kms had it, and it was always the same from the owner.
Because I am an architect, and am living as a question of interest in my studies and life forever, I decided I would make this as my own project.
I called the MAD (Motorised Architecture Development)
After touring and making deep studies in Web, I have a mobile 4x4 camper, in a polyester box that could give me, my little boy, my wife and my dog have the same comfort we expect at home.
Many things went into count, but in the end I opted for a double bed, a toilet room and the living room, which could turn into a double bed at night.
Because of the short I'm working, I decided to use the inlet chamber as a shower / toilet room.
The cabin and the "box" must be, because of legal issues be separated.
And I also have the weight issue a lot, not covered by the 3.5tones.
I have "stripped" of Iveco, the chassis painted black with a color corresponding to marine environments, and the lodge itself in White (Arctic White Mercedes).
All the interior as refurbished and uphlsteary job with black Cordura fabric i bought on eBay made (pictured below).
I've already bought most things on eBay, used, and some (few) new.
Because i work with CNC machine, I'm all the interior modeled in 3D Propylene did.
I wanted all the trucks, with diesel. No gas.
So just the refrigerator and the interior lights work on electricity.
Water and air heating is done with a Truma diesel water and air heaters, and cooking is done in a Webasto diesel boiler x 100.
