We made it to Magadan. Only now got internet here in Aldan trying to get an electrical short and some brake pads sorted. Had a look at the OSR but after speaking to some Geologists in a GAZ-71 decided against it. They showed me some pics and as a lone 4x4 I think it would have been silly shame. Still wet up there and it has turned cold! Snow all over the mountains but the road is ok... for now. We were then going to try for Tomtor from the west but the fuel station there had run out of diesel! So we waited a day then got 30L off the guys building the new bridge. Decided we needed to head south to obtain fuel another gutter.

Has anyone else spotted the tin shack on the east of the OSR? Its a great Banya! woodburner inside and old GAZ-71 tracks to warm for steaming (Sauna). would be great for you bike guys. We had a wash then left. Got the waypoint, but keep it clean as the locals do seem to use it. You would however need some wood and a pan to heat water.

The hotel in Aldan remembers you fondly Walter. Pictures on the wall and everything!

We are cracking south after leaving here for shipping from Vlad.

Spotted 2 motos on the pass just east of Ust-Nera, dont know who they were, they didn't want to stop. They were heading for Mag though.

Lena river crossing from Yakutsk cost us 640Rb and the Aldan River was 1000Rb... for the record

That is all for now, some photos to follow when we get WiFi.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
