Volgograd to Kiev via Crimea - Waiting times Kavkaz - Kerch crossing on mid-June

I'm planning on exiting Russia into Ukraine at this crossing, although I can't afford an 8 hour wait, are bikes required to queue along with cars or can they go to the front? What's the best time of the day to arrive?

How slow is the traffic in these regions?

I have four days to get from Volgograd to Kiev via Crimea, I like to do quite long days in the saddle and am happy doing 800kms a day in western Europe, but Is this route realistic in four days?

Thank you,

Barry

Bikes always go to the front ... and there are ferries every couple of hours there.

I think four days is doable, but doesn't leave much time for smelling the daisies, etc. The Crimean coast is really wonderful, but you'll have to just blow right by it (as I did).

i'm not sure how late the ferries run at Kerch, but if you could catch the ferry the first night from Volograd you could spend the next night on the Crimean coast after a short day. Then IIRC you can get from Yalta to Kiev in one day pretty easily, there is a major highway to Kiev once you're out of the Crimea. So, assuming that you can get the ferry the first night from volgograd, if you're ready for a couple of long days I actually think you could do it in three days, or spend an extra day in Crimea.

The road is all good tarmac stuff, no problems , just a little boring long and straight-ish lots of police around when we came through, so watch the speed . We crossed the border just above Taganrog into the Ukeraine, took us around 3 hours, no hassle friendly and polite ,just long queue at 9am. We travelled through the Ukeraine to Romania so can't say on the last bit to Odessa
