Is there a decent road from Vanino to Magadan? I:scooter: am looking at the possibility of riding up instead of shipping and flying.

Well if there was a road, people wouldnt ship or fly :) There is no direct road at all, let alone any decent direct road.

The only way by road from Vanino to Magadan is the same road out of Magadan ... via Yakutsk and Tynda - i.e. its a big loop around.

Vanino, Khabarovsk, Never, Tynda, Yakutsk, Magadan
