Guesthouse in UB - Idres

Hey Mark,

A couple of years ago I spent some time at Idres guesthouse (he's listed in the Lonely Planet). It's defintely a budget option, but the guy is nice and well connected and the accommodation adequate. He took us out into the country side too, where we stayed in a Ger and his mother looked after us. From memory he had a garage too. Say hi from me if you catch up with him.

The famous Scott from UB (who recently moved) probably has the best advice though.

Ride SAfe.

Gana's guest house

I can recommend Gana's guest house at Ulaanbataar, we spent 1 week there and they have nice gers on the roof (5$ per night, breakfast included). It's right across the (now burnt down) market, on the hill where you have the big monastery (forgot the name right now). But it's listed in LP.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I don't have a lonely planet book with me, perhaps if I asked around in Ulan Bataar for Gana's or Idres place someone will know? Will also ask wife in the US to search the lonely planet internet site for more info. (connection too slow here and won't load their page.) Don't know when I'll have internet access again once I leave this guesthouse in Aldan.
