Insurance policies at borders of Central Asian Countries.

Hello you all,

Tried to search on the HUBB but found only partial replies.

I ask who rode Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan if there are insurance policies available at those borders.
The Company that has been covering me for the last two years in Russia and Republics of Caucasus (a Company that I found in 2009 here on the HUBB) told me that their coverage is valid only as SECONDARY liability, I mean only as integration to the mandatory insurance policy to be bought at the borders.

Here on the HUBB, inside some old topics I found only members who wrote that it's not requested at the borders, but this does not tell me if there is anyway the possibility to buy one.
I prefer not to ride my motorcycle there with no coverage.

The borders I'll enter from will be:

KAZ: border west of Atyrau;

UZB: border station between Beyneu and Kungrad;

KYRG: border station of Taskomur.

Thanks heaps,

Nick from north Italy.

We crossed into Kazachstan recently using the border between Astrakhan and Atyrau. Yes, you can buy insurance there. Around 20 EUR for 3 weeks if I remember correctly.

In Kyrgyzstan there was no insurance at the border, and we used the major Bishkek border. Nobody asks about it, so I wouldn't bother.

For Uzbekistan I don't know yet. Gonna enter next week.

Cheers

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
