Turkmen side - you have to be progressive, as they are really relaxed there, but ofter that its all ok. Fill the custom papers, run the circle around offices, and in 1 hour, you should be out. No money paid.
However they checked our car REALLY thoroughly (especially for carpets).
I also had to take my bag from the car, and put it in the Xray..

Uzbek side - completely ok. Again the custom papers (rider must fill in the car), paper of our transit route (we had transit visa) and thats all. No taxes or fees. We were through in one hour. And they even didnt check the car - but its true we arrived at their side at 17:55...
However, i had a nice chat with the police..how many wifes and children he has, so it was relaxed..
