tire availability update for 2009

Has anything changed in 2009 in tire availability in for instance Alamati or in Mongolia. I have read that previous years there is nothing you can count on, but things are changing all the time. Have you seen any for sale this year? Not alongside the road, but in a M/C repair shop or something like it. Checking to see if I need to stick to my plan to ship tires for July 2010 or if there is the possibility somebody has started stocking tires this year. (90/90/21 and 130/80/17)

I can help in Russia (at any big city), but have no idea how to deliver tires abroad.

Our guys used Dean (above) this year and can recommend. We had tyres (of our make, model and size) ready for us on arrival in Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk ... and as he says, if we had needed other locations, that can also be arranged. :thumbup1:

Dean, I may take you up on this. I need to check which of the tires you show on your website have similar mileage / performance to the mefu explorers or Heidenau K60's. Also need to check where between Almaty and Mongolia would be the best place to pick up some tires, any suggestions?

Colebatch, which tires did you order from Dean.

going from Almaty to Mongolia, you have to pass reasonably close to Novosibirsk. Its only a small detour.

The two guys i was with picked up Metzeler karoos. But they dont last anywhere near as well as the Mefos or Heidenaus (which I had on my bike).

You might want to lobby Dean to start stocking Heidenaus and Mefos ;)

Almaty is a big city and you can definitely get tyres. We had all sorts of parts ordered in from USA within a week.

Otherwise underways we found rear tyres (17") here and there by asking around the bikers in any reasonably sized town (Chita, Ulan Ude, Blagoveshensk, etc...). Not super efficient, but we always found something and met stacks of friendly people in the process.

Now we are talking ... :thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1:

With these now available across Russia thru your network, the whole issue of carrying tyres on the back of Adventure bikes in Russia should no longer be a problem!

Thanks Dean

Can Dean get hold of any tyre type? Probably best if I drop him an email. :thumbup1:

Just an update: Dean send our tires to Novosibirsk and they are waiting for us there.
