Temp Import multiple bikes to Russia?

Doubt anyone knows this, but gotta ask...

I live in Moscow and currently have one bike temporarily imported to Russia. I am looking at buying another bike (used) in Europe and bringing it back here. Ultimately I will need to register this second bike in Russia, but I was wondering if it is even possible to bring in a second bike on temporary import.

I seem to recall someone on this site having a problem getting a trailer-mounted moto into Russia because they wouldn't let him bring in his car and the trailer-mounted bike.

Anybody have any experience?

Well, I don't have a 100% definitive answer, but it is good enough for me: last weekend I had to take my bike out of Russia to renew the temporary import status. While I was bringing the bike back into Russia, I asked the customs official if I could bring in a second bike as a temporary import, and she replied with an emphatic "Nyet", and said that I would have to pay duties on the second bike.

Not sure what the regs actually say, but at the end of the day what matters is what the people at the border let you do, and at least at this border post (Latvia/Russia) they don't seem prepared to let in a second bike as temporary import. Could be different at other border posts I guess.

Also, no more temporary import certificates, at least at this border post--now they print out a sticker with the relevant data and paste it onto the customs declaration for the bike.

The same border (near Pskov) point did this to me a year ago. They put a bar-coded type sticker on the back of the usual Temporary Import Vehicle Document.

Next month I will be entering via Ivangorod - so will see and report.

Personally I doubt this is of any significance in preventing renewals, just an attempt to speed up the exit procedure and collating information.
Why not pop along to the Mos office in good time and ask for an extention and see what happens.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that there are no more temporary imports, simply that they have replaced the certificate with the sticker on the customs declaration. I will go to the Moscow customs operation in the next few weeks and don't expect any problem extending the temp import for the length of my visa.

You say that you got the sticker at that border post a year ago; interesting, I was there last July and received one of the certificates, I guess they were out of stickers...

It was at the end of May last year. The vehicle document was examined by ДПС many times in the ensuing 4 months and on exiting Customs just looked at it, compared the vehicle details with my Custome Declaration and filed it all after the usual flourish of rubber stamps. They did look very briefly at the sticker on the reverse but it was not scanned - maybe something for the future.

I'm coming your way in July so we will see.
Colebatch entered from KAZ a few weeks ago. He is now in London so I'll ask him over the next .
