Question Tajikistan Visa

Hello,

Can anyone tell me how far in advance they've been able to get a Tajikistan visa, or where on the road we could get Tajik visas (and GBAO permits) and how long it takes?

Unless I have duff information it looks like you can only apply 30 days prior to entry, which messes up my plans....

Cheers,
Al

Visa

We got our Tajiskistan visa about a month ago, and we arrive in late July. We applied by post and it was back inside a week.

If you are going to the Pamir region you have to state this somewhere on the form (we just wrote it on the top in capital letters and underlined it) and include the extra payment for this region.

Should all be fine.

Cheers

Ollie

Hi Al,
Last year it took 2 days in Berlin to get visa. On the same street was Kyrgyz embassy. GBAO permit was in price.
I have heard it is difficult to get GBAO permit outside european countries...
We have asked for visas in June and entered Tajikistan on August 22nd.
But these Stans countries and even Russia have different "standards" and rules in their consulates...

We got Tajik visas in Almaty in 2008. One guy there was super-helpful and we had visas and GBAO permits within 2 days.

However bear in mind that in that part of the world, different embassies and even different people at the same embassy have different rules.

Also get your GBAO permit for EVERY area possible. We had issues once with some backwater official due to a missing region.

I got in Almaty as well, ended up paying 100 USD for visa + 20 USD for GBAO. perhaps the last 20 went to someones pocket.

However, in Tajikistan I got impression that no one is interested in this GBAO permit.

That's very useful to know. We'll be passing through Ashgabat on the way towards Tajikistan, so that could be our answer.

Thanks all.

Hi all,

Visa Note
An invitation, either official or private, may be necessary for visits to Tajikistan by some nationals; and some nationals can obtain a visa upon arrival; check with nearest embassy (see General Info). A visa can then be issued by the nearest Tajikistan Embassy. Some other areas, such as Nurek Hydroelectric Power Station or Lake Zorkul, also require special permission to visit. tajikistan (cheaper invitation to Tajkistan 12 euros)

All visitors are required to register with the authorities within 72 hours of arrival. Hotels will usually arrange this; however, independent travelers will need to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the local OVIR office themselves. (b) An HIV test is required by all foreigners planning to stay longer than 90 days. Foreign tests may be acceptable.

Types of Visa and Cost

1. The rate for confirmation of invitations for foreign citizens and absent nationality persons is $ 5 US
2.The rate for immediate consideration and processing of applications for invitation (visa support) is increased to 100%
For processing and issuance of visas:
а) For issuance of Tajik entry/exit and exit/entry visas for foreign citizens and absent nationality persons:
1. For the period of 3 days 15 $ US
2. For the period of 7 days 30 $ US
3. For the period of 14 days 40 $ US
4. For the period of one month 50 $ US
5. For the period of 45 days 60 $ US
6. For the period of two months 60 $ US
7. For the period of three months 70 $ US
8. For the period of four months 80 $ US
9. For the period of five months 90 $ US
10. For the period of six months100 $ US
11. For the period of seven months 120 $ US
12. For the period of eight months 140 $ US
13. For the period of nine months 160 $ US
