Tajikistan Visa

Hello,

Can anyone tell me how far in advance they've been able to get a Tajikistan visa, or where on the road we could get Tajik visas (and GBAO permits) and how long it takes?

Unless I have duff information it looks like you can only apply 30 days prior to entry, which messes up my plans....

Cheers,
Al

Visa

We got our Tajiskistan visa about a month ago, and we arrive in late July. We applied by post and it was back inside a week.

If you are going to the Pamir region you have to state this somewhere on the form (we just wrote it on the top in capital letters and underlined it) and include the extra payment for this region.

Should all be fine.

Cheers

Ollie

Hi Al,
Last year it took 2 days in Berlin to get visa. On the same street was Kyrgyz embassy. GBAO permit was in price.
I have heard it is difficult to get GBAO permit outside european countries...
We have asked for visas in June and entered Tajikistan on August 22nd.
But these Stans countries and even Russia have different "standards" and rules in their consulates...

And you didn't need an LOI, right?

CornishDaddy 20 Mar 2009 13:49

No LOI for Kaz, Kyrg, Taj or Turk (for a transit)

LOI for Iran and Uz

We got Tajik visas in Almaty in 2008. One guy there was super-helpful and we had visas and GBAO permits within 2 days.

However bear in mind that in that part of the world, different embassies and even different people at the same embassy have different rules.

Also get your GBAO permit for EVERY area possible. We had issues once with some backwater official due to a missing region.

I got in Almaty as well, ended up paying 100 USD for visa + 20 USD for GBAO. perhaps the last 20 went to someones pocket.

However, in Tajikistan I got impression that no one is interested in this GBAO permit.

I picked one up in Ashgabat (TM), no problems at a very quiet little embassy. Cant remember how much but it wasnt expensive

That's very useful to know. We'll be passing through Ashgabat on the way towards Tajikistan, so that could be our answer.

Thanks all.
