Tajikistan embassy - Brussels

There has been a change in 'the rules' (don't know if it only applies to UK nationals) for getting a visa for Tajikistan. UK agents used to be able to apply to the nearest embassy (Brussels) on your behalf to get the visa.
This is no longer the case.
Both David at Stantours and Travcour UK have advised the same. You have to apply yourself, in person, at the embassy.
I have tried e-mailling other European embassies but don't even get a reply. I now may have to set off a few days early to collect the visa and GBOA permit on route.
Anyone any experience of this?
Cheers

I phoned the Tajik embassy in Germany. Really friendly person I spoke to. You can apply yourself by mail. Here's the details:

You have to make a transaction into their account for 50 Euros (single entry, valid for 1 month). Bank details are on their website: www.botschaft-tajikistan.de
Once the money's wired into their account, you send your passport & application form & 2 photographs, plus a self-addressed return envelope with the appropriate postage (DHL for international postage I believe). Application takes no longer than 1 week. The 50 Euros apparently INCLUDE all GBAO permits, but you have to tick all the GBAO boxes of where you'd like to go.

You might want to phone them – I'm sure there's someone who speaks English. They also have an embassy in Austria. Maybe you can apply in Brussels and pick it up in Austria.

Cheers Bjorn.

Thanks Bjorn (I met you at the northern get together last year with Jimmy and co.)

The Taj visa was the one visa that was going to cause problems.

For info - I'm setting off with a German guy (Jens) from near Reutlingen (as far as Uzbekistan via Kaz, Kyr and Taj) and Mick and Colleen from Oz (as far as Southern Kaz).

I believe that you're meeting up with Len along the way. We may cross paths - you never know! I'm coming back via Turkmen and Azer.
Re your other post - I am able to get all visas before leaving although some (Russia for instance) can not be issues sooner than 90 days before the visa start date.

Have a great trip and thanks for the info.

Hi Paul,

Yes I remember meeting you up north. Len & I will meet up in Turkey around end of June/beginning of July. Then it's 5 days in Turkmenistan, followed by about 3 weeks in Uzbekistan, then Tajikistan/Kyrgyzstan/China/Pakistan.

Maybe you could ask the German guy you're travelling with to arrange the Tajik visa for you. If he's got to do the same anyway, why not post your passport to him and apply together?

Embassy rules

Thanks again Bjorn.
I shall telephone the embassy tomorrow. I have heard that it's UK nationals that have to apply in person? Not too big a problem - I'd need to set off a few days earlier and collect it in person at the embassy in Brussels. Travcour advise me that I need to make an appointment but that the visa can be collected the same day.
Looking at your rough dates - we should cross paths somewhere. I'll be on my return leg through Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey (having come across Kaz, Kyr and Taj) I am on a tighter timescale so will do Uzbek, Turkmen and Azer in July. Turkey in August.
Keep in touch.
Cheers
Paul

Tajikistan embassy update

I telephoned the Tajikistan embassy in Berlin today. They were very helpful but confirmed that UK nationals can only apply in person at the embassies i.e. not by post.
The good news is that they will open an embassy in London in the next one to two months.
