The south Aral Sea- does it still exist?!
 

Hi there, on our trip through TK and UZ next year I was hopin to catch a glimpse of the south Aral Sea. The lonely planet mentions a route to the west of moynaq which takes you on gravel roads to the western shore of the South Aral Sea.

However, I read that the southern aral has shrunk massively over the last few years. Has anyone been there recently? Is it worth the trip anymore?

Also has anyone carried out this trip on the gravelled roads? How long does it take from nukas? The road conditions are no problem as we'll be travelling in a land rover. :)
