shipping from central Asia, the Stans, to Japan/Korea
Unusual, but I have to ship the bike end September from Almaty or Bishkek to Japan or Korea.
If anybody knows a good cargo contact in the region, please let me know.

Korean Airline has started a weekly direct flight to Seoul.
Passenger round trip is only USD 650 from Bishkek,, so I imagine bike/cargo is some where around USD 1,100, including a pallett.
Just make sure to empty the petrol 90% then go read Riding Pointers in Korea ,, contact Wendy Choi to do the customs clearance,, then find the ferry off the ICN airport island.

Once you are in Korea,, you can head onto Japan on a regular passenger ferry, from Bu San, with out any special carnet.. wherelse if you flew the bike into Japan , you will need a carnet of some sort.

Do you maybe have any idea how to storage it in Korea, since I have to come a couple of months(!) later, without paying too much for the storage?

Leave it at my house for free, in Seoul or at my cottage in Yang Pyung.
Take the key with you ,, so I am not tempted to ride it while you are gone.

Technically, you can. BUT, the ferry company seems to only allow Japanese and Korean registered vehicles without a carnet. The only port I am 100% sure about entering without a carnet is Wakkanai, in the far north.
Maybe the situation is changed, but I had a long discussion (argument) on the phone with the ferry company Kampu Ferry in the past when some Aussies wanted to come to Japan via Korea without a carnet. They wanted confirmation from every possible government agency (customs, police, transport, etc.), even after I quoted all the applicable laws in Japanese!
I am not saying it is impossible, but Kampu Ferry wants to make it as difficult as possible.

Thanks Joe, but the thing is, that I would send it BEFORE I come, so I only can pick it up at the airport when I arrive myself a couple of months later. I guess I have to pay for the storage a couple of dollars per day. Either here or in Korea.
But thanks anyway, and dont worry about the key the bike only works with a secret password

In that case , KAL cargo wil charge you a hefty fee. Have Wendy clear it and keep it at her BONDED warehouse ,, she might do it for free.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
