Selling car from UK in Central Asia

Hi
I would like to travel to central Asia or even further to India/China by car. I would like to use the most economic option to travel so i have a question. Anybody know if it is profitable to sell somewhere there a car? Petrol price in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan is pretty good. I heard that u can sell the car and it will be enough to pay for returning ticket to Europe.
Anybody have experience with that?

Its a popular past time for Russians to buy cars in Japan and then drive them back West to Moscow - usually high end vehicles that maintain their price.

Check which countries require a CDP as they wont be easy to sell in, plus all the hassles of getting your CDP deposit back - if you paid duties???

There are a few threads with info on CDP requirements, but Google maybe your friend.

Hi. It is easy to sell a car in Kyrgyzstan. Most liked: Japanese left hand drives, any german, also lefties. No french, no italien (what a bummer). Best years for customs is under 10 years.

CHeers.

We have a similar situaiton we are currentlu in Kyrgystan making our way to Kazakhstan and flying back home. We will need to either sell the car, scrap it or ship it. our favourite option currenlty is to sell it as it is expesnive to ship it back to Europe and it has been a good car! Many thanks for your help.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
