Russia train, Mongolia
I just returned from Mongolia.
I went with my girlfriend and one motorbike from Moscow by train to Novosibirsk. From Novosibirsk we went to Altaj Mountains and we crossed Tashanta border to Mongolia. In Mongolia we went along main direction, but we made a lot of turning. From Ulanbaatar we go up to Kyachta and Bajkal. From Irkust we went by train to Moscow. Prague-Moscow and back I go single on bike, my girlfriend flew by plane. We didn’t have any problems! We went on KTM LC4Adv with boxes. I think that manage loading bike in Moscow without Russian language is impossible. People in Moscow are very unpleasant, I must pay bribe. In Irkutsk people are friendly and normally. If there anybody have questions about Mongolia and bike on TransSiberian trains I will answer! |

Je suis en train d'essayer de preparer un voyage tres similaire. En fait, je me suis focalise pas mal sur la mongolie, et j'envisager d'aller a Moscou en Moto (LC4 Adventure aussi!) et de la prendre le train au moins jusque Irkoutsk, voire Allan Bator, pour rouler au moins une dizaine de jours sur place et rentrer par le meme chemin. Pourquoi es tu descendu du train si tot et aussi a l'Ouest? Y a t il quelque chose de special dans ce coin la? J'ai vu qu'il y a 2 trains par jour entre Moscou et Irkoutsk. Sais tu s'il est possible de charger une moto dans ces deux trains, ou s'il faut un train different? as tu trouve ces renseignements par Internet? As tu fait un site? Peut on voir tes photos de voyage? Voila, j'aurai bientot plein d'autres questions, j'en suis sur! Loic |

According to the rule you can ship not more 200 kg of luggage inside a mail-van consisting of the passenger train. But one of my German friend traveled with his Transalp inside the mail-van from Novosib to Moscow. It`s an Asia...:)

I think, that it not problem to go from east to Moscow, because people on eats Russia are friendly and helpfully.
Only comunication and managing in Moscow train stations are difficult. And, in my opinion, unposibble without russian languague. |

OK, I tried to answer!
Why I got-off in Novosibirsk - because I went to Altaj mountains and west border to Mongolia. I crossed all west and central Mongolia. It was long trip. Timetable - try this: Have a nice trip! I strongly recommend you to use train No:10. It is comofrtable and fast train. Luggage carriage is attached. You must arrange all 12hours before. You must package motorbike to box. All is not problem, you must pay to work man on luggage cash. I payed 8000RBL for all - ticket and package. But if you not speak Russian, you can pay much more..... My website: advrider.cz |

Effectivement, sans parler le russe c'est la croix et la banière.. mais on y est finalement arrivé, avec l'aide d'un des petits chefs de la gare qui roule en Gold Wing. Même pas eu besoin de la mettre en caisse. Si tu veux me contacter: asianrider at gmail.com ******* I managed to put my bike on the transsiberian in July 2006, from Moscow to Krasnoiarsk. That was a major hassle without speaking Russian, but eventually we made it without even having to crate the bike: just rolled it into the freight wagon and tied it to the wall. We got help from some local official who happened to be a biker as well. It was all much easier after that, no bribe needed. Good luck! A ride to Asia |
