Has anybody ever put a motorbike on Riverboats (Volga River) in Russia?

We are currently in Siberia heading to the Black Sea with a few bike problems and are looking at ways apart from the train,to ease the number of kms to travel.

I wanted to try the same thing when i was in Saratov, but the Volga was beginning to ice over and the boats had stopped. Let us know how you go.

Thought about shipping my bike from Astrachan to Nishnij Novgorod last year and had a travel agency in Astrachan enquire on my behalf about the details.

The answer was that the possibility of taking the bike with me would depend on the consent of the captain.

Did not do it in the end.
