Renting a bike in Japan

Hoping to do a trip to Japan in the Spring. I came across this site Motorcycle Rentals Japan - Japan Bike Rentals. Has anybody here used them? Reliable? Recommended? Anybody have any other advice/options for renting in Japan? Sorry if this has been asked before. Cheers.

That is about the only place that specializes in renting to foreign travelers.
I think they advertised on HU for a while (vague memory of seeing their banner).
Other places exist but the websites are only in Japanese.
They are also often wary of renting to foreigners for some reasons, and you would have to have a Japanese-speaking person do all the formalities for you.
Try this if you have a Japanese speaker to help you RENTAL819

Thanks for narrowing down the search Chris! I was doing some searches and coming up short except for the JapanRentals option- I guess they are the way to go. Chris- i just ended up on your site- you mentioned recommendations- you should add rental info on there.

Must be a lot of people like myself- I have 4-5 days in Tokyo at the end of a business trip, planning to rent a bike and get out to see a little of the country.

Thanks.

Touring in Japan April 2010

Hi, We are currently touring Japan on a BMW RT1200 which we have rented from Japan Bike Rentals. They are very efficient and helpful and the bike has been very well prepared.
Before arriving in Japan, we prepared our own route and pre-booked the hotels using mainly Japan Hotel.net and Jonathan at Japan Bike Rentals put the route on to their Garmin Zumo which has been excellent. The weather has been very mixed from snow to hot weather on our journey from the bottom to the top of the main island of Honshu. Wonderful country and people but very expensive by UK standards. Hope this info is of use.
