Dear Member,
We are about to set off for an expedition from Seoul to Milan via Moscow. There will be some need for us to pick up mail at some points eg Green Card Insurance being mailed to us 30 days before we cross into the EU. What choices do we have to pick up mail? Should we trust Poste Restante at selected Post Offices or would a better way be to introduce ourselves to an HU Community and ask for a reliable mailing address? Are there other alternatives? Thanks

You can probably pick up documents sent to a DHL office.
That should be a more reliable choice (but more expensive) than regular mail in some of the countries you will be traveling in. Check in advance with DHL if you can do that. I have never tried it myself, and I have heard conflicting reports on the ability to pick up packages at the DHL office.

Last year I had huge success using DHL to send parts and documents into those parts of the world. We used them three times, each one addressed to me at the main DHL office. Not sure how long they hold them as we always arrived in town before the packages.
Australia - Ulan Bataar, 3 days - Al Maty, 4 days - Dushanbe, 4 days I was very happy with how it all worked out. Ben

+! On the DHL to Mongolia...
I received a part frrom Thailand within 4 days in UB and DHL held it for me. Bishkek maybe one of the easiest places to ship to...and FedEx was what I used...from the US....3-4 days. |
