Purchasing vehicle in Japan

Hi Folks,

I know it's off the area. I wanted to buy few 1995-1996 Land Cruiser from Japan to be shipped to Mongolia. Anyone knows how this can be done? I know there are many auction's in Japan but don't know how to participate. Would buying from online auctions or participate physically in those auctions in Japan would make difference?

Let me know if you have any ideas guys.

Chinzo,

If you search for used car exporter japan on google, you will find many companies that will get the car you want for you. I don't know any personally, so I can't make a recommendation. I think it would be cheaper to use a company than to come yourself. I think their fees might be less than the cost of airfare and hotels while you are searching. E-mail a few companies and ask their prices.

Also, be aware that the yen is very high now. It may be cheaper to buy from other countries.

By the way, is it possible for a traveler (foreigner) to sell a car or bike in Mongolia? I am sure some people would be willing to buy and drive car/bike to Mongolia, then fly home. Some countries do not like you to do that, though.

Cars

Chinzo hi there,

just adding a little to Chris' comment. Yes, I would also look for someone over here in Japan who can / will do all the stuff for you. Here some links:

Japanese Used Cars Auction Online

Used Car Bazaar from Japan, USS Auctions, Import, Export - Car Adviser Corporation - Toyama - Imizu

http://www.mac-trading.co.jp/auction/

and there are masses more if you "yahoo" or "google" for car auctions japan.

Hope this helps a little....... :confused1:

regarding selling your vehicle in mongolia, ive met 2 german motorbike travellers who did just that. upon entering in mongolia you get some papers for your bike but no reference in your passport, these guys sold their bikes without too much hassles and left on the train to china. but please note that they didnt have a carnet so no need to prove your bike is back in your home country...
