Posting a parcel to Russia from UK? Advice..?

I need to get a parcel to me, from the UK.
The parcel contains a pair of motorcycle trousers, I would guess about 800g?

I am now in Turkey, but will soon be in Russia, and I think I have a good contact there in Sochi.

Does anyone have any experience of sending stuff from the UK to Russia?
How long did it take to arrive?
Problems with customs?
Expensive to send? Did you use courier or standard mail?

Thanks in advance for you help.
Gabe

Talking ahem.....

don't tell me you forgot your trousers as well sheeesh!!

Transglobal

Fast Lane International Couriers

DHL

Fedex

UPS

Customs will charge you a fee - you may want to ask the sender to get rid of labels, and dirty the trousers/ make them look old-er so as not declared 'new' and like any customs, it's a waiting game, form filling blah blah
Consider going to BMW in Istanbul and get a pair there - probably cheaper in the long run and 'instant'.
Here is their number +90 21 23 59 30 64
I've already sent you the lat & long

Timing- sorry no idea Gabe -

and I'm not saying another word.......

I am in UK right now and riding to Moscow (and on to Siberia) in about 3 weeks time. I am happy to take the trousers and mail them from Moscow to Sochi - or wherever.

That would save any customs problems as they would be "my spare" ones!
Internal Post from MOS to Sochi should only cost a few pounds and take a few days - probably under a week.

PM if you want me to carry them and post them from Moscow.

Why thank you

Firstly thank you Bertrand. We seem to be building quite a bond here eh?
I see you as a kind of fatherly figure.

In a good way.

I will have a good look at those courier folks if it comes to that.
I don`t mean to highlight another of my shortcomings, but I mis-timed an Ebay purchase, and these trousers will not be with my mother before she comes out to Turkey to visit me next week. **offers wrist for fatherly slapping**
So having already spent a number of pounds on them, I am loathed to purchase another set.

Tony, that is extremely kind of you. I will pm you now.

Postoffice comes up with the goods!

Thank you again Bert and Tony, but unbelieveably, the post office have delivered ahead of schedule, and my folks now have a full, almost new Hein Gericke outfit for me.

So it seems I am out of the feaces.

Thanks for the offer to help Tony, and it would be a pleasure to meet up somewhere interesting.. I am compiling an email list of people travelling around the Stans area this summer kind of time, are you interested in meeting up with some other folks, or is schedule tight?
I had a look at the link you sent over, and looks really interesting. I`d love to be part of it at some stage if timing allows. What`s the arrangement with the project? Is is a pay and join affair?

There is something you should know about being in the 'proverbial'....The Latins used to tell us:
Semper in faecibus sumus, sol profundum variat!!
Hopefully you can now chill out, wait for a gr8 reunion with your Mum and have what you need for a wonderful adventure Bonne chance!
