Off-road south of Lake Baikal - Babushkin - GPS

Hi,
I'm setting off from Irkutsk towards UB, Mongolia at the weekend. I've seen on my map that there are tracks from the south side of Lake Baikal at Babushkin that go over the range to Gusinoye Ozero, which cuts off the need to loop round the main road through Ulan Ude.
Would like to do these tracks if possible to save some distance but am worried about going wrong way without a detailed map.
Does anyone have GPS tracks / waypoints through this area? I've only got OSM maps and these tracks are not on there.
Thanks.

Just to let you know... I did the dirt road route south of Babushkin. Was great!

Thanks to Colebatch for the GPS tracks.

Pics from the ride here

Note that, the track from Ust-Urma to Gosinoe Ozero is not possible in 4x4/motorbike (I only managed because I had a packraft to paddle my bike and gear across the river). You could go via Selendum though... and the track may be possible at other times of year when river a lot lower/frozen.

Great Pics H ... well done

How long did it take you on the push-bike from Babushkin to back on the Highway at NovoSelenginsk?

takeonafrica 2 Jul 2013 03:07

I left Babushkin 5.30pm, camped near top of first hill. Whole day of biking to just before Udunga. Then whole day of biking/finding route/crossing rivers to just before tarmac (18km from Novoselenginsk) and then one hour of riding the next morning to main Hwy (and continued on to Kyakhta that day). Basically 2-2.5days from Babushkin to Hwy.

Can't think of any tips really - you'll have to go via Selendum don't forget.
Oh, and keep an eye out for bears and drunk russian truck drivers :) I was lucky enough to meet both!
Enjoy the ride. It's fun...

I have built that into the track before passing it on :)

I've hardly seen any wildlife, other than farm animals in russia. Plenty of wild drivers though...
