Trans Sib weather?

Hi people
Have searched the site but not found the answer to my question:

What is the weather related season (i.e. when it's not too cold) for riding from Europe to Vladivostok?

I imagine June, July, Aug and September. But can you start earlier, say in May, or even mid April? Can you get to the Russian Pacific coast in October?

Rob and Dafne deJong did their IceRide, but they're mad IMHO I'd prefer temperaturse above 10 degrees centigrade.

I leave from Finland to Vladivostok last year on first af May so it is possble. Nights were little bit below zero few times but it was not any big problem. It takes 19 days from Finland to Vlad. After After Khabarovsk road turns to south so there was leafs on trees already then. Maybe april is too gold, at least on nights

Another seasonal thing to consider is the Russian spring-summer encephalitis endemic in Siberia. If you choose not to get the vaccination, then travelling after the end of June is supposedly safer.

October can be tricky. It can be lovely and clear (though definitely chilly at night) but it can also snow heavily. Luck of the draw. If it does snow it will probably melt in a day or two, but it could hold you up.

best time for ride through russia: May-September.
On south of russia (near Krasnodar) and near Vladivostok april and october also.

Kevin has just completed this, starting 1 May from Valdivostok. Weather was cold and sometimes below freezing at night, but conditions were generally OK.

This is an archive of russian weather data containing alot of data. The data can be downloaded and I am building a database of location along the road with a view to answering the following questions...

1 Minimum night-time temperatures
2 Maximum day-time temperatures
3 Rain amount and duration
4 Cloud cover

Just looking at Belogorsk in Amurskaya oblast indicates that you need to ideally travel June-July-August in order to avoid below zero night-time temperatures (for camping - not that you'd catch me doing that). Minimum night-time temperatures drop from +10 end of August to -10 end of October.

My own experience of Vladivostock and Primorski Krai as a whole backs this up. August and early September generally the best time to go through this part of the world.
