Tashanta border to Mongolia- Permit?

Hi to everybody!
Next May I will be in Central Asia and I'd like to go to Mongolia overland.

My new idea is to enter in Russia and from there to go in western Mongolia at Tashanta border.
From Tashanta I want to use the northern road to Ulaan Bataar.

Someone know if it's possible to enter in Tashanta or if I need special documentation?

Other question. Someone have any information about motorcycle shipment from Ulaan bataar to Europe?

We had no issue whatsoever (other than the usual waiting for officials to finish their lunch break, filling out random forms, etc..) crossing through Tashanta (MNG -> RUS) in late 2008. We'd heard stories of needing special documentation, and had a letter from the Mongolian consul in Australia with us just in case, but didn't need it.

I did recently some research on getting a motobike from Mongolia back tot Western Europe. DHL and UPS (in The Netherlands the offices on international transport) refuse to deliver motorbikes for non-official companies (e.g. private civilians)
I contacted Andreas Koenig in Germany and he got me an offer.
