Dear people
me intending to travel to Mongolia,
I would like to hear from people who have done it about there experiences and there remarks on such a travel.
(I have already travelled through West-Africa)

Yep, I get 2,855 references to Mongolia in an HU site search - oughta be just about everything you could want in there!

Tell me where you want to get in Mongolia. What is your route? I can recommend a southern way from Tashanta to UB via Hovd, Altai-Gobi, Arvaiheer, etc. There are 1450 km off-road (Tashanta-Arvaiheer)and 450 km paved road (Arvaiheer-UB)
The road condition in mountain areas is bad. The much depends on weather.
You will need in about 250-300 km without refueling. The fuel is not so bad. In a small settlements I had to refuel 76-octane only. But I had no problem with my Africa Twin because of it.

In this year I would like go to Mongolia! I have a lot of information’s and maps from my friends who visited Mongolia last year.
I plane go single, but I can go together.

Hi Weber.
I met two Czech drivers in the last summer. They came back from Mongolia to Czehia via Russia. They was stay at my home in Togliatti for 2 days. The name of one of them is Marek. He live near Czechia - Germany border. Last september I have taken their route across Mongolia. Marek is very good russian speaker. He told me a lot of about Mongolia. It was a very good help in my journey.

Hi Alex, there was other peoples. Mongolia is very important for Czech bikers. I planing visit Mongolia this june.

What motobike was chosen by you for this trip?
If you will go alone you have to carry a lot of luggage incl spare parts and tires.

I have next plane: I start from Prague approximately 10.May. I will go to Moscow, catch train to Barnaul. There I visit my friend and Altaj- Us-Koksa (there I was 15years ago with kayak on river Katun).
Next I continue to Mongolia over border Tasanta. I will go by direction to city Altaj, down to Gobi visit Czech geologic expedition and next north to lake Hovsgol and over border Kjachta to Bajkal. From Irkutsk I will go by train to Moscow. I think, that I return home on 30.June.
I look anybody for all trip or part of trip. If I don’t look, I will go single.

Hi Weber.

Be carefully on the mountain road between Ulgiy and Hovd at Buratyn pass. There is a big plateau with a lot of small rivers and lakes. And I think it will be possible to see a big water there in spring or after big rain.

Hi.

If you will go from Altai to Bayanhongor take left towards north. The beaten track go south via Ulaan Shalin Holloy. It is a Gobi. The southern road is better than northern one. But there is no any bridge above the Baydrag river. You will see it near Boon Tsagaan lake. It is a no problem for UAZ, ZIL and GAZ but for the bike...When I was there in autumn it was possible to pass the river with a motorcycle. But it always depends on weather.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
