Share a container Magadan to Vlad end of Aug?

2 of us are riding the Bam and Road of bones in August. We want to be in/out of Magadan by the end of August. Anyone else in the area at that time who wants to share a container?

I don't think you need a container to ship a couple of bikes from Magadan to Vlad, most people just put them on a ship...

I hope so. Please chime in if you have info. Everything I have heard is that you need a container. I could be wrong though. this might be for people shipping to Vlad then to other places.

I shipped my bike from magadan to vladi in 2011 with rtwdoug. we just showed up at a couple of shipping agents and within a few hours they were lashed to the deck of a ship (although we were lucky with timing).

Transfes, which at that time was a popular choice, in 2011 was saying that the bikes had to be crated, which no one else had mentioned before. transfes referred us to another shipper in the port (i think "dispatch") and they were willing to just stick the bikes on deck.

I actually don't think I've ever heard of anyone getting a container for a bike from magadan to vladi.

here is the contact info for transfes' Magadan office:

Many thanks for that useful information. Depending on cunning plans I might be freighting a bike with a mate around 20 August.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
